Bostik 2000 Primary Sealant

Bostik 2000 Primary Sealant is a compound polyisobutylene hot melt sealant specifically formulated for use in the production of dual seal insulating glass units. It should always be used in conjunction with a suitable secondary seal. The resulting seal units are then capable of complying with the test requirements laid down in prEN 1279 parts 2 and 3.

Benefits

  • Excellent adhesion to glass, aluminium, galvanised steel and metal and plastic corner keys.
  • Very low moisture vapour transmission rate.
  • Very low gas permeability.
  • Acts as a thermal break.
  • Easy application by standard dispensing equipment.
  • No cleaning or purging of dispensing equipment required.
  • Can also be used as a spacer bar adhesive.

Physical:

  • Constitution: compounded polyisobuthylene rubber containing no volatile materials.
  • Colour: black.
  • Form: rubbery solid.

Typical Performance Data (approx.)

  • Recommended Application Temperature: 120° C - 150° C or sufficient to produce a consistent even coating.
  • Recommended Coat Weight: 2-4g per linear metre on both sides of the spacer bar for our polysulfide sealant depending upon spacer profile. lf using with hot melt butyl please contact Bostik Technical Services.
  • Moisture Vapour Transmission Rate: <0.1g/m2 per day for a 2mm film at 25° C 100% RH. (ASTM method E96)

Butylver Primary Sealant

Fenzi Butylver , is a one part polyisobutylene PIB based material, totally solvent free especially formulated for use as the primary seal in double sealed units.

Fenzi Butylver PIB allows for minimum water vapour and gas permeation.

Butylver has excellent adhesion properties to glass and metal spacer systems and can be used together with Fenzi Thiover Polysulphide and other conventional secondary sealants.

  • Application temperature between 130° C and 150° C.
  • Moisture vapor transmission maximum 0.5(g/m2 - 24hr-2mm), in accordance to EN 1279/4.

PIB Tape Applicator

The applicator will accept any width of spacer bar. 4 metre bar lengths of spacer are simply pushed through the machine. This will apply the butyl tape to both sides of the spacer. The bar can then be cut to the required size, filled with desiccant and used to fabricate the frame. The backing paper can be removed when required.
