Primary Seal PIB Tape and Applicator

For use when fabricating sealed units to EN1279 Part 3 - Gas Retention

DGS offer a simple and effective way to use PIB primary seal tape without the need for expensive equipment. PIB is an effective barrier against gas loss for both hot melt and 2 part edge sealants.

DGS PIB Tape is a butyl rubber two sided, self adhesive tape reinforced with a cotton mesh for stability. This unique tape has been developed for spacer bar used in insulated glass units.

Application can be by hand or using a simple tape applicator.

Protection Tape

This is an aluminium foil tape, thickness 38 microns with a permanent acrylic pressure sensitive adhesive. Aluminium foil's efficiency as a barrier to moisture, gases and light is well known. Thicknesses above 25 microns are impermeable. The adhesive has a combination of properties; high peel, good tack and shear resistance. This tape is particularly suitable for protecting sealed units.

Trim Mounting Tape Tape

Trim Mounting Tape (TMT) is a double-sided foam tape specially developed for the permanent bonding of internal lightweight plastic finishing trims on PVCu windows, doors, conservatory profiles and similar applications. The product utilises a 100% closed cell polymeric foam coated with a high tack pressure sensitive adhesive system.

SGT Super Double Sided Security Tape

SGT Super is supplied in roll form in a range of standard thicknesses and lengths. The roll width is manufactured to suit the rebate upstand. The minimum recommended tape width should be 10mm plus the width of the gasket groove. Greater widths will give substantially improved intrusion resistance. The correct thickness for a particular system depends on many factors including the method of bead retention, gasket hardness and unit thickness and can only be determined by test glazing. SGT Super must be used under compression to maintain pressure on the external bead and gasket.

Availability: SGT Super is available in black as standard. White available subject to minimum order quantity.

Application: Both the frame and glass must be dry and dean of any contaminants that may inhibit adhesion. Please refer to separate published instructions.

Storage: Store product flat in cool, dry conditions in original cartons. Do not apply excessive loading to cartons. Shelf life 12 months. Condition and apply between +10°C and +30°.

Standards Conformance: SGT Super meets the requirements of Annex A.5 Glazing removal test of BS 7950:1997 "Specification for enhanced security performance of casement and tilt/turn windows for domestic applications" BSI report no. 261/005829 refers.

Health and safety: The product is non - hazardous in normal use. A Material Safety Sheet is available on request.

SGT Super utilises a highly elastic EPF foam carrier.

PIB Tape Applicator

The applicator will accept any width of spacer bar. 4 metre bar lengths of spacer are simply pushed through the machine. This will apply the butyl tape to both sides of the spacer. The bar can then be cut to the required size, filled with desiccant and used to fabricate the frame. The backing paper can be removed when required.

More
