News from Energy Saving Trust
On the 13 January 2010, the Energy Saving Trust announced their intention to change the requirements for their accreditation of windows from a 'C' rating to a stricter 'B' rating. From 1st August 2010, all manufacturers of glazing will begin product re-registration with the Scheme. This process will take two months and from 1st October 2010, only products meeting the new criteria will be endorsed by the scheme.

"In line with Scheme procedures, the development of the new endorsement criteria went through a consultation and peer review process. The Energy Efficiency Partnership for Homes Glazing Strategy Group were consulted on proposal and representatives of businesses, test houses and other stakeholders attended a consultative forum in order to discuss the proposal, which was then presented to the independent Energy Saving Recommended Endorsement Panel for review. The Endorsement Panel, a body of independent environmental, regulatory, certification and enforcement experts recommended to the Energy Saving Trust that the criteria for endorsement of glazing be changed as proposed. The Energy Saving Trust will be implementing this recommendation. The new criteria are detailed below.
- Window Energy Rating label of B or above from British Fenestration® Rating Council (or equivalent).
- Commitment from member to supply annual sales of endorsed products.

Roto Aluminium Thresholds

Introducing New Swisspacer Warm Edge Bar
Energy saving
Lower heating costs through better insulation: the thermally improved spacer SGG SWISSPACER V excels with an optimised heat transfer resistance. The heat transmission coefficient is at least 0.1 W/m2K lower than that of conventional aluminium spacer bars. Even reductions of up to 0.3W/m2 K can be attained. The result: the high tech spacer bar SGG SWISSPACER V enables heating costs to be reduced by up to 5%. That's easy on the wallet, and with reduced CO2 emissions, also on the environment.
Comfort
Due to the superior isolation characteristics of SGG SWISSPACER V, higher temperatures are maintained at the edges of glass panes - significantly reducing the risk of condensation forming. D-Tech Door Closer
This exciting new product from DGS is quite different from traditional door closers. Being mounted inside the door sash the risk of it being ripped out of PVCu doors is eliminated. It can also be used as a door opener.

New Product - DGS Restricted Fire Escape Egress Hinge
Enables suitably sized vents to meet the requirements of egress to BS 5588.
Conforms to child safety restriction BS 6375.
Available in 12", 16" and 18" versions.
A choice of austenitic or ferritic stainless steel.
Egress stay by their very function are a potential hazard to young children and the elderly.
It is highly recommended that a suitable restrictor device is always incorporated into these windows for safety reasons.
DGS now stock Führ Doorlocks
DGS are very pleased to announce that we now stock Führ Door locks.
For 150 years now, Führ has been developing and producing successful locking systems for doors, windows and gates. DGS are looking forward to a fruitful partnership with this manufacturer. We currently offer single spindle and split spindle one piece locks, French door locks and stable door locks. We plan to significantly expand our range of these undoubtedly high quality products.
DGS Standard & Bendable Laser Welded Spacer Bar
DGS are pleased to announce the addition to their range of standard and bendable laser welded (top welded) spacer bar. Initially, this is available in anodised finish, with 15.5mm and 19.5mm sizes available in gold. Other sizes in gold and mill finish will be available shortly.
Laser welded spacer is an economical product, perfectly in tune with today's challenging trading conditions.
CHROMATECH Ultra Spacer Bar
Polycarbonate with stainless steel back; an excellent combination
DGS will soon bring into stock of our new WARM EDGE spacer CHROMATECH ultra. The spacer is a combination of POLYCARBONATE and STAINLESS STEEL. This combination gives a unique combination of a very low Psi value and workability on all known bending machines.
The polycarbonate has the advantage that it can be bent in cold condition, and does not bend back again, in combination with the stainless steel back it gives excellent corners and straight sides on the frames.
